As someone with an interest in jurisdictional / institutional approaches to LE, BWC footage saturation eclipsing dashcams ($$$$ compared to modern consumer pricepoint), to me, marked a huge shift from LEA/LEO-specific approaches to typical policing interactions to standardized training/approach and I don't think I like it.
CONTEXT used to matter, a LOT! Now it's .. well, the same fucking footage, EVERY GODDAMNED TIME! (save for the rare outliers ofc, poor training, roidragers, clique of extra-tarded coptards etc, which is like <%5ish-%1ish imho) ..
Well, same procedure, tactics, commands, implementation etc.
The standardization of trarining and accountability provided by BWC has ensured that these situations are ALL handled "by-the-book" (that used to have negative connotations).
POLICE!
DROP THE KNIFE
DO IT NOW!
PUT IT DOWN
CROSSFIRE
I DON'T WANT TO SHOOT YOU, MAN!
PUT THE KNIFE DOWN
I'M GOING TO SHOOT YOU
YOU DON'T WANT TO DO THIS!
CROSSFIRE CROSSFIRE!
GIVE ME THE AIR, ANY UNITS BETTER STEP IT UP, ONE AT GUNPOINT
PUT THE KNIFE ON THE GROUND
[magdump]
X to dispatch, shots fired, one down, roll medical, gonna need units to head down X street to establish a perimeter and send me a supervisor.
every time!
SBCs (Suicide By Cop) are all the same, the victim blames authority personafied in the LEO and makes a personal/political statement by the act. Without addressing this, expect these to skyrocket.

When it comes to Policing, innovation happens where it was needed decades ago. I mean, the modern "Felony Stop" was pioneered by LAPD/CHP and hasn't changed since the 70s. Hell, even pursuit/PIT/airship techniques haven't really changed ... in 50 years!~
