Spez. Post 2) People would debate I remember in Geography a pro Palestine presentation and the people who were more pro Israeli said their thing. There was no aggro. Most of the people though didn't really care too much one way or the other.

Things were a lot less political and people didn't take offence to things said. There was one lad who was gay and I was being a total dick to him for a long time and eventually he challenged me to a fight. We gave each other bloody mouths, I had a big welt on my head we agreed to stop fighting and we became friends. Rather than cancelling me he punched me a few times and I respected him after that, and learned some lessons.

We said the Lord's Prayer before class every morning and stood for the Anthem until about 1985 when they outlawed the Lord's Prayer in school. Some classes a student or two would step out into the hall but most people did it or stood quietly and it was OK.

The boys were boys and the girls were girls. A big thing in our generation is the girls didn't want to appear as "sluts", not cause of the boys but the other girls. The girls wore baggier clothes, skirts or shorts to the knee or to their ankles. Check out tv shows from the late 80s or early 90s, people wanted to appear classy and "preppy". Showing lots of skin was NOT cool. Girls/ladies wore lots of one piece bathing suits. And they were soooo much sexier that way :)
