LOL this was the state of affairs NY was in the late 80's and early 90's. Anyone old enough to remember should recall that the term "New York" was synonymous with crime, decay and seediness back then. The image you get when you hear someone say "Detroit" today was similar to how New York was perceived back in the late 80's and early 90's.
Then they elected a Republican for the first time since the 60's, and he (Guliani) turned that city around 180 degrees. He stomped down crime, brought tourism back and made NY a world class city again.
Then they elected a democrat again back in 2014. And since then, the city has slid back into being the shithole it was back before Guliani saved it. I mean the guy who's running NY right now is the same guy that raised this fucking creature, so of course its falling apart.
