You can be unemployed and be against lockdowns. In fact a lot of unemployed people are pissed off that they lost their job due to the pandemic. Including my girlfriend. She has applied to lots of places and went to lots of job interviews and she still can't get a job offer. And she hates this lockdown because it's making it harder for her to get a job and she can't cope with social isolation. Have some empathy for people who have it worse than you. This is the biggest weakness with Conservatives.

If you want to stop losing to the Liberals, Conservatives need to stop punching down and help low-income Canadians. If you don't want low-income Canadians going on welfare, why don't you advocate for creating jobs and increasing the housing supply instead of insulting them for being unemployed collecting CERB? The Liberals and NDP have done a good job of pretending to give a shit about the poor. Even though their policies do more harm than good. The Tories don't even try to reach out to this demographic. Donald Trump would have never won in 2016 without the poor white vote in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, etc. Poor whites in the UK supported Brexit.
