Empathy is a serious problem that a lot of Tories have and this is going to severely limit their appeal. Trump at least did a good job of speaking to poor whites. Putting a bunch of people on welfare is not the solution. But it's not like the Tories do a good job of creating Canadian jobs and creating affordable housing for Canadians either. Both parties (as well as NDP in BC, Alberta, etc) are failing on this front. Harper had almost a full decade to fix problems, over 4 years with a majority. And the housing bubble got worse. The outsourcing, the capital flight abroad, the job losses due to automation, etc. got worse. Just as it has under the Liberals and NDP (provincial). In fact a lot of NIMBYs who don't want affordable housing in their neighbourhood are Tories (some of them certainly are Liberals too). Because they are the type of person who feels the desire to look down on others. A lot of NIMBYs would have an identity crisis if they didn't have an other to look down on. And these same fuckers are the ones snitching on their neighbours to 311 for not social distancing, masking and they are the exactly type of Tory cuck who votes for Doug Ford.
