The people who are hurt most by diversity hiring/promotion practices are the people in the demographic group that's being pandered to.

If you have an incompetent/undeserving person who gets hired or promoted on the basis that they belong to X demographic, that calls into question the legitimacy of every other person in X demographic because now their coworkers have to wonder "Did Mike get promoted to that position because he's competent? Or is he only there because of diversity quotas?" which is a perfectly valid concern when your company really is promoting people based on their skin colour, gender etc instead of merit.

Like how is anyone supposed to know which hires/promotions are legitimately merit based, and which are diversity based? Where diversity hiring/promotion practices are being applied, the suspicion of that being the case will fall on every member of that group by default. And that's really shitty for the ones who legitimately got there by merit, without any help from diversity quotas.

More importantly, this LOWERS the general perception of that group rather than raises it. It has the opposite effect that it's intended to have, which is to raise the perception of that group by raising the group's mean employment status.

The whole "diversity quota" thing is terrible policy because:

a) Everyone knows it's artificial.
b) It calls into question the legitimacy of every member of the group that's given preferential treatment.
c) It creates resentment because good people are being denied their due on the basis of their skin colour/genitalia/etc.
d) It fosters distrust of leadership because they're exhibiting moral cowardice by mistreating their employees in order to appease twitter mobs.
e) It legitimizes divisive identity politics.
f) It violates one of the most fundamental principles of a free and civil society, which is that everyone should be treated the same regardless race, sex etc.

This "diversity quota" shit is fucking cancer for everyone, especially those in the demographic groups they're supposedly designed to "help".
