He makes a good point I hadn't considered: Trudeau doesn't want to show the public a budget in the spring with the possibility of a snap election looming in the short term (remember, a budget being voted down calls an election, and Trudeau has a minority of votes).

That budget is going to be nightmarish given the ridiculous spending they've been doing. The amount of stuff that's going to have to be cut to start making up for CERB is going to be staggering. We've got the biggest deficit in the G20 right now, and the spring budget is where that's going to hit home for voters. That when the bill for CERB and the other pandemic expenditures is is going to come due, and that's when the abysmal tax revenue statement is going to shown to us. So better to trigger an election before having to table the spring budget than after.
