How is it fair that white people have to all belong to the same group? My ancestry is English, not Scottish, not French, not Ukrainian, not German. It is the racists who conceive of the world in racial terms that apply those labels to me, I am not the racist. Now that said, those who identify as "white people" are the only ethnomasochistic people to ever exist. Imagine hating yourself and your heritage, our very own social institutions encourage it!

It's worse than that. The first part is right, they didn't know what to do in life, didn't like the idea of getting up every morning and going to work, and are generally smug and self satisfied about themselves. Since PhDs in the social sciences are most easily obtained, that's where most of them end up.

PhD in "political science" or social work, psychology, or public health. Generally interesting areas, but how does one become a professional with skills in any of those area through study? You don't. You choose a narrow research area, and like most other things in life, they didn't know what they wanted to do, so its usually some highly specific, irrelevant, meticulous "analysis" of some bullshit that never needed to be looked at so closely.

Inevitably, what emerges from that is sophisticated sounding nonsense like "in this study we employ the use of multivariate analysis through the lens of postmodernist female identities as experienced and embodied by modern Ethiopian womxn, in order to deconstruct and unpack the inherent patriarchal and white supremacist constructs present in the egalitarian conceptual worldview as posited by John Rawls through a scope of Foucaultian black, queer identity in 1970s Paris."

SO yes, two steps outside of their wheelhouse, they don't know anything, but in their wheelhouse, there's frequently not much knowing of anything going on. Of course, they're probably a hundred or two hundred thousand dollars in the hole by the time they finish all that "education," so it is in their best interest to support the adoption of crazy nonsensical ideas as it creates an industry for them to actually get paid with their knowledge, think, Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator.

Try Nord or Private Internet Access. PIA doesn't keep logs, so if the police go asking for them, sorry, we've got nothing to show you.

Since this is Canada, you can get your ass that this kind of legislation will absolutely be passed, and nobody will even know about it. I suggest you all pay for a VPN today, and use Brave or Tor web browser, enable DNS over HTTPS, avoid google where possible and use Duck Duck Go search engine.

If you want to go nuclear, get a router that can run a VPN directly instead of using one on your computer, install a version of Linux OS on your computer, or use Tails OS installed on a flash drive.

When this kind of legislation passes, if you're on this site, there's a target on your back. Think it can't happen? Look at what happened to Carpe Donktum. Trudeau loves Europe, he'll get behind any piece of legislation that makes Canada more like them.

I don't know if I am paranoid, or jumping to conclusions, but I am afraid that we get to our destination before people even realize what path we're on. I was telling people and being ridiculed for it a few years ago when I told them that cancel culture and the postmodernism/marxism coming out of the universities were the same ideologies that pervaded the horrors of soviet communism.

It is the same fearful compliance that motivates people to proudly inform on their neighbours and family, after all, they're just doing their part. We don't go from free society to political prisoners over night, but then again, we went from waking around freely to forfeiting the legality of our normal daily activities in ten months.

I am afraid that if we continue down this path, that people won't be shocked and aghast at the prospect of gulags in Canada, they will be demanding that rule breakers, anti maskers, conspiracy nuts be taken away from them, because it is their fault that we're in this mess, and because they aren't doing their part, and if they did their part, then the government wouldn't have its boot on our neck for our own good.

His plan was never going to work anyway. This guy comes in and bets everything on the coaxed success of the oil industry at a time when OPEC is overproducing, the US is energy independent, and the political climate of Canada and the PMOs office is thoroughly opposed to supporting development.

I don't think it was ever intended to work. I think Kenny came in and expected the hard times to blow over, abuse the AB tax payer in order give his oil industry buddies a good shot of corporate welfare, and then in four to eight years he'd get a cushy well paid consultancy job for his trouble. He was always more interested in federal politics anyway, I suppose he thought being the conservative premier of AB was worth moving from Ontario.

I knew that neither of those windbags could be trusted from day one. I have had enough of these privileged, career politician, corporate "conservatives."

Kenny sucks. He gets no praise from me. Who gives a shit if he was reluctant to bring down harsh restrictions on everyone? He still did it. Fines of $1000 to $100,000 for having mom and dad over for dinner, the cops at your door. That's Kenny's legacy. OH, and hundreds of millions of dollars of corporate welfare for US oil companies.

This asshat was never a conservative. He signed off on both the modern transfer payments formula and the increase of temporary foreign workers under Harper.

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn was sent to the Gulags and the other prisoners, even in their state of half dead by starvation and exposure, still believed in the party line. Many of them thought it was a misunderstanding, and that it would be sorted out, and they would be sent home.

I’ve had some success with family and friends, but honestly I’ve lost more friends over all this than anything. I’ve engaged some people at work, just voting at the edges of their uninformed beliefs, and then the next week I hear them laughing and joking about how stupid trump is or something, and it’s just back to square one.

Honestly, people don’t try to get informed, they don’t know they take our freedoms for granted, they just accept whatever news or social media that’s right in front of them. Oh whatever it has nothing to do with my life right? It’s just a default worldview, and everything is fine, if I needed to know something, I’d know it!

This is the right take, just like how victimhood has become virtuous, and whining, complaining, and canceling have become virtuous. Virtue is now subversive, because honesty, bravery, and other real virtues are now disdained.

You're not wrong, but I think you're missing the forest for the trees here. What they did was legally permitted, however the poster above was right, they tell us to avoid non essential travel while taking sunny vacations for themselves.

It adds insult to injury that they all pre-recorded Christmas messages, and then they all said, well, in no way was my Christmas message intended to mislead anyone as to my previously planned vacation, and now that I have returned home, I pinky promise that I won't break the rules again.

Meanwhile, the rest of us who cannot afford to self isolate for two weeks, who cannot afford to leave the country, who cannot afford a Christmas vacation, are sequestered at home where our ever so competent leaders decided that we cannot see our own families without facing fines up to $100,000!

If COVID was really as much of a concern as the politicians have lead us to believe, do you think any of them would be going anywhere? Who is more at risk, politicians on a crowded airliner, or mom and dad coming over for Christmas dinner with their son and his wife?

Whether or not it is technically permitted is besides the point. Their actions are extremely hypocritical and display their utter disdain toward to the common man. Rules for thee but not for me.

Its no big deal that a few politicians exposed themselves to thousands of people on flights and at their resorts in a foreign country, getting a sun tan while the Calgary police arrest a young man for playing hockey outside. Let them eat cake!

Just show them the stats on your provinces website. Look specifically for comorditities. In AB, 98.1% of deaths with COVID are exacerbated by 1 - 3 other serious medical conditions, average age of death is 82. They don't even hide the stats, they're publicly available, they just know that nobody is going to look for them or ask questions. Look at the total number of deaths this year compared to last year. No difference.

People are dying as usual from heart disease, cancer, and diabetes in their advanced age, they are already on deaths doorstep COVID pushed them over. This happens every year during flu season when these same sick and old people die from influenza and pneumonia, those have a 4% death rate, far greater than COVID.
