I know Bernier has come out strongly against all lockdowns. Would be nice if the CPC could support basic freedom.

Translation: Fuck trying to get people to vote for us.
Ok, so let's say the CPC does it your way and bleats about the lockdowns like Max is doing. Their polling numbers will tank as a result, and then Trudeau wins a majority in the election that's bound to happen within the next year and now Trudeau has even MORE power to lock you down, and will have secured that power until at least 2025 (because there are no non-confidence votes and snap elections under majority governments. They get the whole four years). That's the outcome you want?
I swear to god. No offense, but I think the issue with you PPC guys is you're just not thinking these matters through, because you don't understand how politics and democracy work. You just want to hear your politicians virtue signal about the issues you're concerned about, real-world consequences be dammed. And you've got a charlatan fringe party leader who's taking advantage of that ignorance and spurring you on with occasional incendiary tweets in order to bleed you of donation money that he pays himself $100k a year from.
I want you to explain in your own words how you think O'Toole bleating about lockdowns on Twitter will materially improve your situation. And by materially, I mean beyond just momentarily making you feel good while you read the tweet.
WTF does that even mean? Democracy is about marshaling the maximum amount of support you can get. It's literally the whole point of having elections.
When I read comments like "You have to do what's right, even if it isn't popular!", I seriously stop and wonder if someone can genuinely be that ignorant of how elections work, or if it's that I'm talking to a Liberal shill who's just trying to split the conservative vote by pushing votes toward the PPC. Because I just can't wrap my head around how someone could legitimately think "Popularity be damned!" is a sound election strategy. It's as if you don't know what an election is. And I find that unbelievable.
As for "doing what's right", the CPC can't do shit from the opposition bench. They're not governing. All they can do it try to win the next election, then they can make changes. And you can't win elections if you take an opposing position to 75% of voters. Catering to fringe views is how you end up with zero seats and 1.6% of the vote.
Oh do tell us the PPC secret to success LOLOLOL. How many seats did you win last election? What was your share of the pop vote?
The CPC would literally be better off taking campaign advice from a potato than they would be taking it from PPC'ers. All you guys know how to do is race to rock bottom. This very discussion is perfect evidence. It's like you're committed to finishing with as few votes as possible.
How can you say I'm virtue signaling? I want my politicians to stand up for legit, concrete civil rights of Canadians. I don't want to live in a country where Doug Ford can tell me my job isn't important and shut down my business because some quack who doesn't even see patients gave him advice based on epidemic modeling.
You stand for nothing. You cede everything! Honestly dude, you are everything PPCs say you are. It's depressing.
Just wait: Toronto's medical nazi dictator Eileen De Villa was on the TV yesterday talking about locking Toronto down 100% like they're doing in Europe now. You can't leave your house except for "necessary" stuff like groceries. Will you support that? Of course you will, because some poll will tell you to.
Your whole notion of "standing up for" is the virtue signaling I'm talking about. What do you actually mean by "stand up for"? Forget the sentimental nonsense for a moment and tell me exactly how you want O'Toole to "stand up for" that.
You want him to tweet against the lockdowns? That will make you "feel" better?
Well I hate to break it to you, but election outcomes don't care about your feelings. O'Toole doing that would alienate the vast majority of voters and ensure Trudeau remains prime minister forever. And how exactly are Canadian civil rights going to be served under permanent Trudeau rule?
Honestly what is so hard to understand about this? How are you not able to reason these things through to their conclusions?
Yet somehow, as a person who wants the lockdowns to end, you think the way to achieve that is to keep handing elections to Trudeau???
This is what I mean when I say I can't wrap my head around your thought process, and am therefore skeptical of whether you're a genuine "ppc supporter" or a Liberal shill posing as one. Because your logic makes zero sense. You claim to be against the lockdowns, but you're advocating for a course of action that will result in continued lockdowns i.e. begging the CPC to hand Trudeau the next election by publicly opposing lockdowns (which have wide public support).
Buddy. You're the one demanding the CPC hand permanent rule to the Liberals by pandering to fringe opinions that will guarantee they lose elections.
Let's play a game.
If polls told you Canadians want massive wealth distribution, a 75% tax rate, critical race theory and transgender theory taught from kindergarten, mandatory race quotas for hiring, etc, would you want the CPC to also take those positions?
Where do you draw the line, Ham? Freedom has always been a conservative position, yet you're against it now because a poll says it isn't popular.
You stand for nothing. You cede everything. It isn't virtue signaling to stand for concrete positions that your party has supposedly stood for since its inception.
No. You're going to answer the question I've repeatedly asked you:
How exactly do you think O'Toole tweeting against the lockdowns is going to improve your situation?
I would say that percentage is bogus. Unemployment is scarily high right now. I highly doubt that many people want to continue to not have a job.
