And I'm not talking about the billionaires either. As much as Bezos has, he built something. The millions upon millions upon millions with their hands out, taking 10x a Bezos from the public purse did nothing for their stipend.
It’s hilarious and sad to see people calling for Bezos to be stripped of his wealth and it be distributed to everyone. His 200 billion (assuming they can get full value for his stock which is impossible) spread among 330 million Americans is about $600 each. The complete destruction of business trust and stability in America for $600.
While I appreciate those who serve, the large authoritarian streak our governments have shown has made me grateful (for once) to have a comparatively weak military and police forces.
The media likes to talk about navy ships and fighter jets, but anyone remember how the military was asking for their sleeping bags and tents to be returned?
The military can’t even keep enough sleeping bags on hand, or replace pistols, or any number of small fairly trivial things, let alone spend billions on jets and warships.
On the one hand, they’re so inept that they couldn’t suppress the civilian population, on the other hand they’re useless if something bad happens, not just an invasion, but an environmental disaster such as the long overdue earthquake and tsunami that’s going to wash the west coast back into the sea.
