I have an advanced degree, and while things did work out, that wasn't always a guarantee. If i had it to do all over again, I'd seriously consider a vocational high school and graduate with my red seal electrical ticket.
If you're smart about that, and get a real estate license as well, you'd have a lot of opportunity almost anywhere in the country.
