This reminds me of an Air Canada flight I was on Wed night from São Paulo to Toronto. The head flight attendant makes his pre-departure announcements. The announcements warn of the seriousness of Covid19 and how Air Canada is committed to the passengers’ safety.

He continues: “wearing a mask is obligatory at all times on the plane. When eating and drinking the mask must continue to be worn, and it may be removed to allow food or drink to be consumed so long as it is replaced after eat bite or sip”.

I thinking to myself, this is completely retarded. (Btw I am in business class with 7 of 30 seats occupied and no one near to me. Anyway....)

But wait, it gets much better.

Th announcement continues: “however, during the formal dinner or breakfast meal service masks may be removed for the duration of the meal.”

So, masks must be worn while eating or drinking, and removed only to allow food or drink to be inserted into your mouth. But, if it’s during formal meal service this rule doesn’t apply. Either masks are important or they are not. Why have such silly rules? If I eat the crappy meal I can take my mask off. But if I snack on a bag of chips or chocolate bar I may only remove the masks for bites. I was and still am shaking my head as to how ridiculous this whole thing has become.
