Whole foods can get fucked, but I don't think he can legally do that. As paradoxical as it sounds, whole foods has the freedom to express or not express opinions on remembrance day through their dress policies. Their employees do too, but not while they're on Whole Food's time, because they made an agreement to adhere to Whole Food's dress policy in exchange for money. Employees are legally allowed to violate that agreement and put a poppy on but if they do Whole Foods is under no obligation to uphold their end of that agreement and keep paying them (i.e. they can be fired).
It's actually the same logic by which Quebec has banned their provincial employees from wearing hijabs and other religious garb. You have the legal right to wear that shit if you want, but if you make a deal with an employer and you say "I agree to adhere to your dress policy (among other things) in exchange for wages", then you have to uphold your end of that bargain, otherwise they can stop paying you wages (by firing you for breach of contract).
I don't think he should, but I think he certainly can. It would probably be done using the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal legislation - which again, I think is bullshit and HRTs should be abolished. But as of now that is the precedent in Canada.
If HRTs can mandate the women in the workplace can't be forced to wear high heels but must be given the option to wear flats; that they can't be mandated to wear a skirt but must be given an option to wear pants; that Sikhs can't be mandated to be clean shaven; that Christians must be allowed to wear a small cross....... etc etc
HRTs can then certainly mandate something reasonable, like on all National Statuatory holidays and internationally recognized days of religious significance employees must be given an opportunity to show support of the holiday or not.
Again the definition would have to be reasonable. Wearing a poppy is reasonable. So is wearing a green shamrock for St. Pattys. Dressing up as a WWI soldier or a leprichon probably is not.
You wear the poppy to remember your comrade in arms. It has nothing to do with the government, past, present or future. There are plenty of vets who are pissed off about how things are going. You know those dead guys would have had your back.
I understand. Demoralization is part of the left's plan, always has been. Makes you hate the respectable institutions, etc. Government overreach I can understand too. I am a gun owner. Now I am a felon, although I have served for 32 years. Yes, kids deserve to be kids and have fun. I have two, 22 and 19 and it breaks my heart that they go to school on a laptop and have no dates. On the other hand, we are lucky because we can still make a living, others are not so lucky. I had plenty of shitty times. I front-loaded my life so that I am doing well now. I do not like what has been happening since March. I think there is fuckery afoot; the pandemic is real but things are happening out of view that I do not like, for example, the stealing of the US election. I wish I had something to tell you that would solve all your questions but I don't. I think that those that died before us would be outraged at what is going on; political coruption is timeless, but selling out your country to the Chinese isn't. Just keep your head together, and remember that demoralizing right thinking people is part of the plan.
We lost too many people in Afghanistan and you could also say we needlessly killed a bunch of people over there as well.
The armies of Mohammed transgressed against the western kingdoms on 9/11, so an army of western crusaders volunteered to retaliate a thousand fold in the Islamist's homelands and deliver retribution. And it was done.
That's exactly what all knew we were singing up for. What would you have had us do, just let the mohammedians kill our kind without consequence?
No. We went over there because the alternative - turning the other cheek to filthy jihadist savages - was intolerable to us.
We were right to do it this time, and we were right to do it the previous eight times, and we'll do it again, and again and again whenever those filthy savages forget their place.
THE TALIBAN DID NOT SHUT DOWN OUR COUNTRY AND DESTROY OUR ECONOMY FOR GENERATIONS TO COME. Our own goddamn governments did that to us for their fake COVID scam.
The poppy isn't about Trudeau's policies. If you'd forsake our fallen comrades because you're mad at Trudeau, you're doing politics wrong. Trudeau doesn't deserve a shred of your consideration when you think about whether we should honour our war dead. He's not a part of that equation and he never will be. He's just one sniveling, ungrateful sack of shit out of millions who's freedom we had to shed blood to defend.
Earlier this week our government announces that our military will be participating in launching propaganda campaigns on our own citizens.
The poppy isn't for them either. The poppy and remembrance Day in general aren't about honoring the military, they're about remembering our war dead. It doesn't even matter if you agree with why they were fighting.
Edit: Go back and watch these. They'll make you remember why you went. Because you appear to have forgotten.
I didn't see anything from the hajis that made me think any different about their intentions.
You may not have seen it, but every last one of them wanted you dead. Afghanistan is probably one of the most devoutly Islamic societies in the world. And you were an infidel trespassing in Dar Al Islam.
The alternative could have been irradiating everything from Morocco to Pakistan with nuclear weapons which the USA has at their disposal on 9/12/01.
Not practically feasible I'm afraid. Not without poisoning the rest of the world.
But yes, in future I'd probably recommend a stand-off approach. We tried the humanitarian liberation and nation building approach in good faith, and we learned the lesson that you simply cannot civilize that culture. But we had to try before we learned that lesson. So going forward we should apply a polciy of containment and severe retribution for attacks against the west.
In retrospect it seems as if we may have fought in Afghanistan in order to train our own military and NATO to conduct counter insurgency operations in our own countries, against our own citizens who do not go along with the New World Order.
Let's not get carried away.
If that was a training exercise, why were you told by the moustaches when you got back home to forget everything you learned there, lose the high speed kit, drop the advanced gunfighter drills and revert back to cold-war mode?
I am sorry but I literally cannot watch Canadian politicians wearing the poppy and hanging wreaths for the Dead on the 11th
Yeah, that bugs the shit out of me too, but you just have to remember - it's not about them.
Also take solace in the fact that when that politician pins a poppy on his lapel, and then looks up at your chest and sees the medal(s), he knows he's a pussy.

If even Trudeau thinks that your woke level is too high, you should maybe overthink your decision.
Ah, doing the important conservative things - protecting the feels of people that 'defend' our dwindling list of 'freedoms'
Based!
