Yeah I saw myself as a leftist at one point because I saw defiance towards authority as being a leftist value. But then when the left is telling me that fucking my girlfriend was going to kill my dad, they lost the fucking plot. I was already alienated by the left with the woke SJW shit. But the lockdown is making me root for Trump and the Republicans for the first time ever. And my NDP-voting friend may excommunicate me forever after he ranted about Trump and I told him that I don't want Biden to win because he's going to lock down America and destroy the economy. And I'll vote PPC even though I don't like right-libertarianism. I'm more sympathetic to left-libertarianism. But self-described left-libertarians on OGFT want lockdowns. Hmm...
When I did that morals test, I scored highest on liberty but moderately high on empathy. That's where I differ from the left. I value liberty more than leftists and I'm in between leftists and conservatives/right-libertarians on the empathy scale. I would like to live in a libertarian society but feel that there should be some sort of safety net to ensure that housing and health care is affordable for the poor (and the heroin and meth addicts need to be in rehab. They are incapable of being functional even if you put them in subsidized housing. And people with severe mental illness need to be in like a half way house or institutionalized). The amount of self-sacrifice the left is expecting from us to lock ourselves down is like religious asceticism. My empathy has limits. I'm not willing to be celibate to flatten the curve. I don't want to be saddled with tremendous debt from lockdowns to save like 0.1% of the population. I don't think it's fair to expect small business people to lose their life savings, to have mass chronic unemployment, to screw over young students, to take away Halloween from children, take away Thanksgiving and Christmas, to save 0.1% of the population.
