Vancouver is driving us insane - the traffic, busyness (3 ski resorts sold out this weekend, parking lots to nature full), petty crime, coldness, unfriendlyness from people and $2k rent for 1 bedroom. We don't seem to fit in here and peoples attitudes reflect that. We don't want this rat race. (...)
Our concerns are mainly focused on the current Alberta government. We don't align with their healthcare, social security or conservation beliefs. The worry is the future of Alberta beyond the next election. It seems majority of this subreddit has the same sentiment.
Australian couple moving from BC to AB is afraid of conservative policies. Like Californians moving to Texas, they'll keep voting for the same trash that created the problems they're running away from.
Let's analyze each problem he has with Vancouver one by one and see how it relates to Liberal/NDP policies
Insane traffic and full parking lots: Mass immigration: Liberal/NDP policy
petty crime: Rising inequality: Caused by importing cheap scabs from poor countries, inflating the housing bubble and outsourcing/automating Canadian jobs: all Liberal/NDP policies
$2k rent for a 1 bedroom: Caused by importing cheap scabs from poor countries and inflation of the housing bubble: all Liberal/NDP policies
Rat race: Caused by neo-liberal economic policy of the Liberal/NDP
coldness, unfriendliness from people: low-trust society caused by the problems mentioned above pissing people off and putting them in a crabby mood.
