That latimer guy does sound pretty smart after a quick google. He had his hand in a couple different projects in those times. Likely left out of history books to save space, cant give a chapter to everyone who invented every single piece of something. I'm sure if they taught a course solely on the invention of the light bulb he would be mentioned.
