Yeah, there are some okay speakers at the Toronto rallies but the guy who organizes it creates too much time for the random loons. Last week the march included a stop in front of what he says was the Dominion voting machine headquarters where we stopped to hear a rant from some Infowars conspiracy theory-type.
I go to these things because I want to be able to go to social activities again not to latch onto any cultural-right political issue.
Oh shit, that's right. The cap badge threw me off because of the Guards patch behind it. But that's definitely a CIC cap badge.
They're not really a subset of the reserves, they're basically just the adult supervision for cadets (like, the little kids cadets). Nobody considers them to be part of the military. I think their whole training is like a two week camp councelor course. They're not allowed to operate military weapons or tell military members what to do. They're nothing. It's ridiculous that they're even allowed to wear CAF uniforms. And this is why - they can misrepresent themselves as military personnel among the public.
Pretty much. They really shouldn't even be wearing the same uniform as actual service members.
Pretty sure a random cadet from the reserves would out rank this guy.
That doesn't really make sense. Reservists aren't "cadets". They have the same ranks and qualifications as the regular force. You can transfer freely between them and usually keep your rank.
Cadet Instructor Cadre. With a fucking knife tied to that uniform. That is pretty much ll you need to know. Now that rag doesn't know military rank from toilet paper, they state "an officer cadet with 25 years of experience." Maybe they mean a Cadet officer? Or a Cadet Instructor (civilian)? But if a guy has been an Officer Cadet for 25 years, ther might be a problem! (unlikely)
I'm calling it. That dude isn't in the military.

Best guess is he's a guy who tried to join the Governor General's Horse Guards as an officer years ago and washed out.

Yeah the 1982 pattern webbing with the rambo knife was a little bit of a giveaway.

So in short it's a civilian volunteer position? Pretty sure a random cadet from the reserves would out rank this guy.

Oh I meant a literal recruit for the reserves, I know reserves have all the same training just not in active service.
