Oh shit, that's right. The cap badge threw me off because of the Guards patch behind it. But that's definitely a CIC cap badge.
They're not really a subset of the reserves, they're basically just the adult supervision for cadets (like, the little kids cadets). Nobody considers them to be part of the military. I think their whole training is like a two week camp councelor course. They're not allowed to operate military weapons or tell military members what to do. They're nothing. It's ridiculous that they're even allowed to wear CAF uniforms. And this is why - they can misrepresent themselves as military personnel among the public.
Pretty much. They really shouldn't even be wearing the same uniform as actual service members.
Pretty sure a random cadet from the reserves would out rank this guy.
That doesn't really make sense. Reservists aren't "cadets". They have the same ranks and qualifications as the regular force. You can transfer freely between them and usually keep your rank.

So in short it's a civilian volunteer position? Pretty sure a random cadet from the reserves would out rank this guy.

Oh I meant a literal recruit for the reserves, I know reserves have all the same training just not in active service.
