Just gut your cloth or surgical mask. Cut out the inside layers. A surgical mask with the inside two layers cut out is a very thin piece of non-woven fabric with massive gaps on the sides, top and bottom. It'll be much like wearing nothing. (Of course, don't let them see what you've done to the blessed magical sacred face covering.)
