Not to be pedantic, but under Trump US debt increased in a record pace. Obama increased the US debt by about $9 trillion in 8 years. Under Trump it increased now by $7.6 trillions in just 4 years, give it a month till January 20th and it will be over $8 trillion. No other president spend that much in such a short time.
Yeah. When the Democrats suggested the second stimulus of about $2 trillion a month or two ago, the Republicans immediately said that this was way too much. And what did Trump do? He said that $2 trillion aren't enough. $3 trillion would be better.
You can make the same argument with Obama and the financial crisis, where they past bailout after bailout.
Not true. There is not a single year under Trump where the yearly deficit went down. In 2016 (last year under Obama) the deficit was $585 billion. In 2017 (first year under Trump) it was $665 billion. Followed by $779 billion in 2018. In 2019 (still pre-China flu) the deficit was already at $1 trillion. No sign of "takin in more to start paying down the debt".
