That was the most annoying thing in the fucking world.
I sympathize with their plight but the Tamil Tigers were a fucking awful group of hideous terrorist who accomplished nothing but brutality, death and destruction.
Then all of a sudden there's protests every July, students displaying monuments dedicated to dead terrorists, and all kinds of fundraising aimed at resurrecting the corpse of a vicious group.
In Canada no less.
I wonder how the Tamils who came here to escape the shit they stirred felt about that? I can understand why they weren't speaking out but I wonder how they felt?
It was an utter disgrace.
You'd be surprised at how many "canadian" small businesses voluntarily or involuntarily support the tigers "back home". Many don't have a choice as it was the terrorists back home that funded their journey to canada, legally or otherwise.
I wouldn't.
It's truly amazing how many "political freedom organizations" are fucking close to being what most of us would consider to be the worst kind of organized crime.
Having to send "protection" money back to their countries of origin because some fucking terrorist group that they probably don't like in the slightest "sponsored" their refugee claim.
Even worse, then they get to watch their kids protest and fundraise for the movement that forced them to leave their country. I'd guess that they'd want to say something the entire time but don't, because they know that they're in bed with monsters and that their kids' safety depends on just going along with the bullshit.
We really need an overhaul of the refugee system. We're supposed to be giving sanctuary.
Or tighter regulations on money leaving the country. Throwing a 50% tax on any money leaving Canada, with violations ending in deportations is probably a much more feasible approach.
