That's easy for you to say.
What if someone chooses a word, creates dozens of accounts featuring that word, and then uses all of those accounts to flood the threads with spam (using that word in most of his comments) just to drown out any/all discussion?
In that scenario you can either automod that word and put a stop to it, or you can let your forum be flooded with spam.
Now, I'd actually forgotten about this until I saw this thread and was reminded of why that word was automodded.
If you'd just asked politely via PM what was going on with that word being censored, I could have just quietly removed it from the automod.
But instead, you had to be a hero and make a big stink about it which probably caught that person's attention, so that word's going to have to stay on the automod list now because if I take it down now, he'll go right back to doing what he was doing before so he can claim the "win".
Well done. Your choosing to be a dick about this and make it a "fuck the mods!" issue is netting the exact opposite outcome you were hoping for, where being civil would gotten you what you wanted. I hope you'll reflect on that.
You guys think you want a total absence of moderation, but that's because you've never been on the other side, and you don't know the realties of moderating a forum. If I gave you what you wanted and just ended moderation altogether, the forum would be completely unusable within 24 hours.
Then deal with the accounts spamming, don't automod words, once you do that, the same troublemaker can just choose to spam any word at all everywhere and then you'd be forced to automod that.

Ham-and-Cheese-Pilled.
