I’m afraid that trucks and SUVs, and any car of half decent ride comfort, size, interior space and ride quality have effectively been ‘banned’, through the sneaky green commie process of regulating them to oblivion, and making them unaffordable to the fast majority of working joes and janes.
Look up the bastard scheme that is CAFE rules.
Remember when a half decent truck medium size was affordable?
Now even a basic stripper truck with a REAL V8(none of that direct injection garbage) from Chevy is $36,200 plus tax.
Seen the price of a Chevy suburban now?! Knocking on the door of $65 grand!!
It’s all part of the plan. They, want to price Joe Schmoe out of having a reasonably nice, comfy, powerful car. They want to shoe horn us into little tinny shit boxes with engine sizes of a bottle of pop.
Now anything with a nice lazy high torque V8 and great ride is only available if you can splash the cash on an exotic BMW, Merc or Audi with a price to match.
Eventually they don’t want us to have cars at all. The Great Reset. The UK banning sales of new cars from 2030. Huh... 2030... funny...we keep hearing about that year...
Forget a nice Mercury grand Marquis, CAFE rules killed that faithful old lady.
Tightening CAFE regulations over decades have basically painted auto engineers into a corner over fuel efficiency (that nobody hardly asked for) and the engineers have run out of options and tricks.
They can’t make cars lighter because of crash standards, rollover regs. They can’t make cars easier to see out if because of side impact and rear impact regs, along with thicker mandated A b c pillars because of rollover standards.
There’s a reason why new diesel trucks are unaffordable.
Cafe rule government watermelons don’t want you to buy one.
That’s why auto makers basically said “fuck it, we will just make big comfy cars like we did in the 70s and put a truck body on them, and voila, consumers flocked to them. The massive pick up truck is basically the reincarnated 1971 Chevy caprice and just as big. Vehicles over a certain footprint get lesser or exempt CAFE rules.
Due to CAFE rules we now have the absurd situation where a 2019 Ford Taurus having engine and car technology akin to the USS Enterprise, weighing 4000lbs with a 3.5 litre engine getting 18/26MPG, yet 15 years ago, a 1995 Cadillac Fleetwood weighing 4447lbs and an ancient design 5.7 litre pushrod V8 getting 17/27MPG, was not unheard of.
A great site to have all this auto Marxism is a frequent guest of Infowars, Eric Peters of epautos. Com

I have one of those, not a bad boat.
I'm eying up a 2010 Grand Marquis, with the LS ultimate package and acoustic side glass as my next daily driver.
When greenies, vegans, hippies etc ask me why i need such a massive car with a thirsty engine i'm tempted to say "Because FUCK YOU thats why!"
