Merck is to receive around $356 million from the US government to fast-track production of the potential treatments under Operation Warp Speed.

We already have a drug that works about 100%, including at least 50% reduction in death in severe patients. This drug has been around for decades, it's incredibly cheap, available, safe and well tolerated, and is even on the WHO essential drugs list, and even won a Nobel Prize.
