The news is constantly talking about the “polar vortex” and how it’s incredibly cold outside. The Apple weather app says there’s an “extreme cold warning”
This is the first week it’s been cooler than -20C outside. This is what I remember as being normal for winter in Canada.
Everyone thinks it’s horrible because they’re being told how bad it is. Wear a hat, long sleeves, some gloves. You’ll be fine.
Can’t help but think the definition of cold has changed with our demographics
Sorry gotta downvote. It's cold af. If you work in it you know. Cold is cold.
-47 with da windchill out. Best thing about this weather is knowing no one is checking car door handles in the middle of the night.
I rode my bike to work in -41C this morning and a -46 windchill against the wind home. It’s not cold, it’s just part of living here.
if I remember correctly, I think 2013/14 was the year they made up the "polar vortex" label - or at least the first year I was aware of it (the ice storm year in Toronto). They call every "cold snap" a polar vortex now - heck I saw the term applied to a high of like -7 in Toronto this year lol just typical medial sensationalism, but it is an interesting study of how easily brainwashed sheeple are, even when it comes to weather
Yes. Exactly.
Weather people can barely predict the next day, any further than that is pure speculation.
Sometimes simply going outside and looking up is more accurate than the weather predictions.
Weather says cloudy and no rain - I go out... looks like it's gunna rain.... and it rains. Weather changes to rain.
The weather predictions are awful where I live. Barely ever check the predictions any more.
When ever some one complains, I’ve found that saying “finally some seasonably appropriate weather” shuts them up. This happens every year. Last year it was the second week of January. The warm winter was nice, but dust storms and rain in December was a little much. Back to regular is nice.
