I used to know a guy in college who was only 20 years old, but only dated and slept with women in their 60s, 70s and 80s. He always wanted to date a 90 year-old because that's when women were at their sexiest, according to him. This guy was pretty open about it too and no one ever called him out on it.
As far as I'm concerned, being turned on by a 65 year-old woman is just as disgusting as being turned on by a 4 year-old. Even women over 40 are disgusting. There's just something about being sexually attracted to a non-reproductive, non-fertile female that's just utterly repulsive. There's the power differential, there's issues of consent, the absence of fertility, there's all kinds of issues going on here. There's no defending gerontophilia. It's gross, but hardly anyone ever condemns it.
To all you gerontophiles out there, if you think menopausal and postmenopausal women are sexy, you deserve to be shot.
I disagree. Mental abilities generally decline with old age, not just with neurodegenerative disorders, so the capacity to consent is diminished in the elderly. Plus there's no fertility. One of the main reasons why pedophilia is disgusting is absence of fertility, so yes they're both comparable and both equally disgusting.
