Not really, because there aren't 266 Conservative MPs. 87 Liberal MPs, 22 NDP MPs, 4 Green Party MPs, 32 Bloc MPs and 119 Conservative MPs voted for the motion.
I will however retort by saying that regardless of party they all voted conservatively (if only to conserve a group of people from genocide)
and they were all conservative in that important historical moment
despite not all being "Conservative".
Fighting for the human rights of Muslims is usually something only Liberals do.
Not when the accused is China, and that was the whole point.
That it was Muslims is irrelevant for those trying to show China's Human Rights violations.
It shows how badly Liberals are clearly China-compromised and don't really care about Human Rights.
Also is there any precedent for a minister making such a statement while voting?
Nope. And there still is not; he didn't vote. He abstained.
And how does he feel like he can speak on behalf of government when voting with the minority not only of the house but of his own party? Honk fucking honk?
A He considers his party the government.
B The PM (more than likely) sent him there to do exactly that.
