The further the CPC moves left the less money we have to raise, so it just makes sense. That's fiscally conservative.
The more people they boot from the party and MPs/MPPs they turn into liberals the less people the CPC has to pay, That's a smaller government.
If more people are locked down and not working then they are paying less income tax.

The National Post (you know, Canada's "Conservative" news outlet) published several pieces how Social Conservatives (like Derek Sloan) will tear apart the CPC through topics like abortion or same sex marriage.
Strategically, the “conservatives” have to move further left to have any hope of winning Eastern Canada’s votes. There isn’t enough support in today’s Canadian population to prop them up otherwise
