The media makes everybody a "Top Officer" or an "Officer", even Warrant Officers. I assume it's mostly ignorance and sensationalism, most Canadians don't know the difference between a Corporal and a Admiral. Which makes it convenient for Lance-Corporals trying to impress girls to get laid.
When the headline read "top female officer" I also assumed it referred to Allen. Deceptive headline imo.
