Honestly man, and I hate saying this, but it really isn’t worth trying to help your company outside of your specified role.
I’m not saying you were wrong. You were probably in the right. But with today’s soulless, large corporations, they only care about you to the extent you keep being a round peg in a round hole. They’d rather you be ineffective and following procedure than be an individual in any sort of capacity.
The large company has no loyalty towards you. It isn’t honorable. It doesn’t make for a stronger society. It doesn’t make for better companies. They want you to be a drone and anytime you’re not a factory drone, that’s a PR issue.
