The current primary demographic (Semitic people) aren't the descendants of Ancient Egyptians.

The Coptic people are, but they are a tiny Christian minority in an Islamic nation.

Furthermore, while it is true that Egypt had slaves (like many ancient civs) the archaeological evidence reveals that the pyramids were not built primarily by slaves. Many who worked the fields of the Nile also assisted in the construction of the pyramid. It required skilled architects and labourers.
