These people are all fuckign crazy, but that doesn't make their votes worth any less. I'll wait to see what the effect on the CPC's polling numbers are before passing judgement.
At $20 per tonne (compared to the Liberal's $170 per tonne), this is obviously a token tax to appease the crazies and prevent the Liberals then media from being able to say "The CPC would scrap the carbon tax!"
It starts at §20 per tonne in O'Foole's plan and will be increased to $50 per tonne. And that is only for the fuel charge, speak the private citizen. Commercial and industrial emitters won't be charged at that rate. Probably higher, can't find anything on that.
The revenue of the fuel charge goes into a savings account. The revenue of the "carbon pricing" on large emitters goes nowhere? And then people have to spend the money in the savings account for "green purchases"? Trudope's plan makes more sense than this bullshit.

Trudeau's plan is nothing more than a degenerate communist tax grab.
O'Toole's plan is made to look like a tax grab (to appease all the crazies who love the government stealing from them) while not actually taking any money from you. Because you're going to have to replace your windows or your furnace or your car eventually.
It's a hair-brained idea that seems to have been designed to appease both sides - those who want money taken from them and those who don't - but at least he's not just stealing money from you so he can hand out to his Laurentian elite friends in half-billion dollar no-bid contracts.
The current carbon tax goes back to the provinces. I got almost $1200 back last year. Directly into my bank account. I could spend it on what I want.
With O'Toole's plan I would get far less and would be limited to green purchases, while probably paying the same amount for electricity (which is produced to 90% through fossil fuels in Sask) as today.
I just typed out an entire diatribe about securing your base before seeking now voters. Then in looking for the data to substantiate my argument, I discovered that somehow even a slim majority of Conservatives (59%) support the carbon tax.. Among Canadians in general, it's 79%.

Cool so vote for Trudeau then.
