Canada has become a joke. I left Quebec last week and am currently in Jakarta, Indonesia heading to Bali this weekend. It’s less disorganized and more open and free here. Think about that - this is a developing (shithole?) country of almost 280 million people mostly living on a handful of smallish islands and things are largely better than in Canada right now.
How did you get in? I've been reading tourism is restricted. Do you have a KITAS?
My wife is Javanese and thru her connections I got a business visa. My KITAS application went in Monday and i should have it in two weeks or so. Best thing is to get an experienced agent who knows the system.
Does Bali have a quarantine at all? Looking to escape to SEA myself.
Currently all international arrivals are routed thru Jakarta, and a 5 day hotel quarantine is mandatory. There are dozens of hotels to choose from at all price points. I chose the Fairmont Jakarta because they had suites available and served food from the room service menu. The price for two of us was slightly more than Trudeau’s hotel scheme but included 5 nights, full 5 star room and board, transfers and two PCR tests each. Overall a nice experience. We are driving to Bali this morning - making a couple of stops in East Java on the way.
There is talk of Bali opening to international arrivals in July. We’ll see.
Bali is pretty touristy, most of the people speak some English and lots of English signage. But Indonesian is the language one would presume.
The common language in Indonesian, referred to by many as Bahasa Indonesia. In more developed areas english is very common and often well spoken. We left quebec last week and i remarked to my wife that there is a lot more english on signs and in public than in Montreal. That’s not to say it can’t be tough once in a while - but overall its pretty easy to get by with english.
very welcome.
