Idiots like this are constantly trying to get the admins to hand control of r/metacanada over to them by the the logic that it's "abandoned".
The admins won't hand over a sub if any of its moderators are still active on reddit (a couple metacanada mods are still active), but idiots like this are trying anyway. So we'll make the occasional post just so that the sub isn't completely inactive.
FYI the sub is still moderated too. Leftists like going through old comments and reporting them, thinking the reports will go unaddressed which would get us shut down by the admins. But we clear the mod reports there regularly. So don't be surprised if you see a comment you posted two years ago in metacanada was suddenly removed. We're not taking any chances.
It's pretty funny actually. The other day someone dug back nearly three years to find a borderline post which probably took him hours to find and report, and took me less than a second to remove. Fucking idiot.
We don't actually have the power to close the subreddit completely. Only admins can do that, and they won't do it on request. They'll only do punitively for rule violations.
We figured it's better to keep that place open as a beacon directing users over here. And that way if this place is ever in jeopardy of being shut down, r/metacanada can direct the users to the new location.
