451.1 (1) If the Lieutenant Governor in Council considers that it is necessary or desirable in the provincial interest to do so, the Lieutenant Governor in Council may make regulations imposing limits and conditions on the powers of a municipality under sections 9, 10, 11 and 129, Part IV or IX.1 or section 400.1 or providing that a municipality cannot exercise the powers in prescribed circumstances. 2006, c. 32, Sched. The Mayor is right, they can't ignore provincial orders because their authority is derived from the province.
If the Mayor & Council stand up to Ford, the Municipality will be dissolved and placed under emergency administration.
Mayors, Reeves, Councillors are touted as elected leaders, not elected followers.
They should lead, and if replaced so be it.
They are elected leaders.....for the areas delegated by the province.
