It’s probably the fact that HR sees other companies do it, so they do it too to cover their butts and to look good. Well… that and all big companies tend to lurch left over time, not because the owners are nuts, it’s typically because a few hard lefties in the company HR start hiring other nut jobs, and before you know it, the company is beyond help.
