I posit it’s not cars one should despise. It’s urban planners not thinking it through. One can easily have a city for cars and both people at the same time.
So the planning around cars I have some sympathy with. When I was in Florida some of the main roads didn’t even have sidewalks, even if it was only a few blocks away from the hotel and I wanted to walk to enjoy the scenery and weather.
The Vancouver city council thing though, it’s got nothing to do with reclaiming nature from tarmac and concrete. It’s just a thinly disguised Marxist effort at getting the little people punished out of their cars.
