The Toronto District School Board ended the School Resource Officer program a few years ago after Black Lives Matter protested the program because some black students felt uneasy about police in school, a solution to a problem BLM created.
The school board had an external body conduct student, parent, and teacher surveys and the vast majority of respondents supported the SRO program continuing.
In the end the school board gave into the demands of the angry mob and canceled the program.
This is the new democracy in Canada, where vocal angry mobs get what they want over the silent majority who casted their vote. Where the feelings of “racialized” individuals are more important than the physical safety of the majority.
Because they are an angry violent mob who have tricked a lot of low information leftists into supporting them, threatened politicians who go against them, and will cancel individuals who question them.
Around the same time blm hijacked the Toronto gay pride parade and demanded police be banned from it as well. They physically stopped the parade floats and forced the organizers to sign an agreement, obviously under duress, to ban police.
BLM Toronto is/was founded and led by race grifters and lunatics like Sandy Hudson and Kugali, the latter not only called Trudeau a "white supremacist" but actually won a city of Toronto award for "leadership". The entire movement is comprised of strangely well-connected, funded, indulged and pampered public-sector linked con artists and crooks. Their influence on educational and other bureaucracies is absurdly out of line with their tiny numbers. In the mean time the vast majority of homicide victims and perpetrators are...take a guess..
When asked whether they would like the SRO Program to continue in their school only 7% of the students said no.
Apparently the feelings of 7% of students is more important than the physical safety and student/police relationships of the majority.
76% of parents surveyed said they felt having an SRO in their child’s school made it a safer place. 78% said they would like the SRO Program to continue in their child’s school, while 8% did not.
Why does such a small number of parents against the SRO program overrule the vast majority that are for the program?
They have media and political influence, and know how to leverage it. Pure and simple. They also, in general, don't have kids in the worst schools in Downsview and Scarborough who bear the brunt of this.
was well liked by all students. How far society has fallen in 15 years
The change is being forced by radical communists and marxists like blm who push an anti-police narrative, it is not occurring organically over time. The school officers are still well liked by the vast majority of students.
A few years ago Toronto city council held a large meeting surrounding the ending of the SRO program. There were black students there who spoke and shared their positive experiences with school resource officers. Before they spoke they were bullied by BLM who tried to convince them not to speak.

Why the fuck does a communist terrorist organization get to decide where police are and are not allowed to go?

It really is insane and undemocratic.
