Any person in Canada who does not like Canada can leave Canada.
I realized that the relationship between First Nations Canadians and other Canadians is a difficult one to manage and there are many issues,
however, any First Nations person who hates or protests "Canada" (a group of people) is protesting a group of which they are a part and that is SELF-DEFEATING.and are doing more harm than good by DIVIDING themselves from "other Canadians" and that will result in an "us vs. them" situation.
The First Nations problems are CANADIAN problems which require
CANADIAN UNITY and CANADIAN IDENTITY to solve, or at least participation from Canadians who are not First Nations.
Attacking other Canadians and then demanding their attention to help
is not going to bode well, because then we must "pick sides".
Imagine First Nations persons hating a new Chinese immigrant who just got Citizenship after fleeing the Communist regime there being blamed/hated by First Nations persons because they now identify as Canadian and First Nations demanding their support to deal with issues of the past for which they were never apart; notwithstanding that most who were are dead now.
I had planned to wear orange on Canada Day at the public request of a Chief in my province, but now these anti-Canadian CancelCanadaDay protests are going to be filled with people wearing orange and I do not support that.
So I don't know what to do. I'm being forced to "pick a side" by virtue of what I wear.
Notwithstanding that I was skeptical of the events of the past month or so,
I don't think it is "Canadian" for Trudeau to "cry" and "apologize" and promise adequate safe water for a Reserve before an election and now years later they still don't have it. There are a dozen other big issues for which First Nations have my full support but now these protests are complicating the matter.
I will (generally) always side with "Canadians" since I am one.
I think it is inane for First Nations Canadians to renounce Canada (and therefore other Canadians ) and force other Canadians to "pick a side".
We don't want another Oka.
MOST other Canadians want for the serious problems to be reasonably solved
because MOST other Canadians know the government can and does
do "us" wrong, too.
First Nations will retain and gain far more empathy and support from "other Canadians" if they maintain that they are Canadian and not be adversarial.
That is, they'll have more success with this and other matters if they are
ONE OF US CANADIANS. Birds of a feather ....
