'Hate the foreigner' is an all-too-common tactic for incompetent governments. Korea uses it against Japan, Ireland against the UK, and black Africa against whites. It unites the population and distracts the electorate from real problems. But reaching back two centuries is extreme, even for dishonest politicians.
This claim, of course, will never work. Every country and people have the their moments of shameful past, so the international community will not support this. UK has been better than most. They were leaders in ending slavery world wide and deserve credit for that. Naturally, wokies will never give whites credit for anything. Further, the history of reparations has been dismal. It was part of the cause of WWII.
Thankfully, most countries are not as infected by the 'woke' brand of hate and racism as Canada is. Consider how the USA cares little about their residential schools, which were much more numerous than in Canada.
The UK should just compile a list of technologies/amenities/infrastructure that they gave Jamaica and call it even. Things like running water, concrete construction, written language, rule of law, etc etc etc.
When determining whether a people deserve reparations for colonialism, the question must be asked: "Where would these people be right now if they hadn't been colonized? Would they be better off or worse off?"
If the answer is "Worse off" then they aren't owed any reparations.
