Pickups have outgrown their functional use - they are strong, tall and intimidating cars. Just like how people add rear spoilers even though they're only for looks.
This is the trending article at The Globe. Marcus Gee has hit a nerve. Not before time.
These things are dangerous in the hands of overly-emotional and immature operators in their moments of weakness.
Yeah and that's true of cars in general I guess, hence why we have so many speeding/drunk driving accidents. I guess the correlation between being an immature driver and an immature consumer is probably high though. I know I've been tailgated by angry pickup drivers more often than their counterparts.
