28 Canadians fault the federal government for waiting too long to ban international flights as a pandemic precaution, according to in-house federal research. They're blaming the government for the wrong reasons.
Canadians think we could be another Australia but the virus would arrive here anyway via the land border.
And Australia's isolationist strategy didn't work after all.
Disagree. They're correct in blaming federal gov for not implementing one of the most obvious first steps in dealing with a new unknown pathogen.
"A new apparently dangerous virus is spreading in China? Better stop travel from there - NOT.
The new virus is spreading in the US? Close the border."
The most obvious step would be to contain the virus in China. Once it left the country it was game over. Useless to close borders earlier or not.
I'd still blame the feds for other things: shutting down the economy, the huge overspending, feeding the panic, ignoring treatments, etc.
