My personal opinion is that you should reconsider if you have no other options than a Mennonite colony haha. Hold out in protest until the last moment you can, but if your livelihood depends on it, it's the smarter choice.

Obviously it's up to you to do your own risk assessment, and there's the old adage of "I'd rather die on my feet than live in my knees" that I agree with, but "live to fight another day" also resonates with me. Good luck man, just know you're not alone in this feeling.
