20 years ago, someone won a CBC contest seeking a Public Service Announcement TV "ad" to create awareness of Hunger among homeless and children of poor or neglectful parents and to seek public charitable funding for a Soup Kitchen in Toronto.
The narrative was: of a teen on the street:
You probably wouldn't care if I approached you on the street and told you I'm hungry,
but you'd probably be outraged if I used profanity.
(beats of silence) Fuck I'm hungry..
Smoking kills roughly 37,000 people in Canada EVERY YEAR. Nobody seems to care. The government makes their tax money off it. If you mention this stuff on Reddit they'll say "but yeah, smoking isn't contagious". But the smokers are clogging up the healthcare system....which I thought was the thing we were trying to avoid?

But the CBC wouldn't air it.
It will be interesting to see how many deaths are attributed to CLRD in 2020.
