Here's his position on residential schools:
As the discovery and investigation is ongoing, we must remember how recently the residential school calamity ended. Furthermore, we must keep in mind how today's Liberal-run government continues to impose poor treatment on many Indigenous communities to this day, as many unacceptably resemble third-world countries with inadequate access to clean water. Mere solidarity isn't enough, because in order to properly reach reconciliation, we must work on solving the issues of today. I will explore options to end the paternalistic "Indian Act" shackling Indigenous peoples into dependency and permitting the federal government to control most of their lives; and replace it with a new legal framework guaranteeing equal rights and responsibilities to Indigenous people as Canadians, while promoting the self-reliance of communities. This also includes promoting the establishment of individual property rights on reserves so as to empower its residents, and give them increased control over their lives.
