Well there's your first hurdle. The US will have little patience with the native strategy of land claiming the entire country out from under us year by year.
Next problem, a 51st state with Canada's population would add 53 electoral votes and 2 US Senators which would effectively swing the executive and legislative branches permanently for the Democrats so we would end up trapped in a union in terminal decline as progressively leftist policies bankrupt both our countries in what would become a single-party system. The Republicans in the senate can read those tea leaves as easily as I and would never approve such a suicide pact.
Next: Canadians are only marginally more attached to our shitty healthcare system than the British are to the NHS and joining the US would kill it unless it morphed into a state-run program like Massachusettes has so Canada would still have some of the highest taxes in the union. I guess the upshot there is that healthy people could flee to Florida or somewhere.
Because Canada has enough retardation, we don't need to add more. We don't need the Obamas, Clintons, Bidens, Bushes, Romneys, Mccains, Pelosis, AOCs, Hollywood pedophiles, planned Parenthood, BLM, ANTIFA, etc.
I know a lot of Canadians have a boner for the Americans because they think America has more freedom. But just look at the destruction that those I mentioned have brought to this world. Is this what we want in Canada? Or should we fight for something better?
Wow you sure do know a lot about American problems. Almost like their media is free to report all of them. Does anyone truly know what Canadas problems are? Sure I can look at American problems, at least I'm allowed to look. I'll take the devil I know.
Assuming they offered membership to the union, there would be a lot of advantages. One advantage is we could take the health care we so cherish and make it a state implemented program, so we wouldn't even have to lose that.
Sadly, such a thing would never happen unless there was a war fought on our soil, or other circumstances of extreme duress.
I would definitely vote to join. Life would be better for every honest Canadian.

Remember when Puerto Rico got hit with the hurricane and got prompt and effective help? Yeah me either. That's how we'd be treated.
