Mm sorry buddy guns only make "hostile interactions" more deadly. It doesn't stop someone from being in the position where they need to (for example) commit a robbery or whatever to make money to support a drug habit. Funnily enough, if drugs were legalized then they'd be more affordable (eliminating the need for the person to have committed the crime in the first place), safe to take (could be from sources other than Isis and terrorist groups where most drugs are smuggled from. Crime prevention isn't about "don't do this or people will fucking murder you" there are lots of preventable events leading up to a crime being committed, including the circumstance the person has been born into and the opportunities they've been given.
