Canada is a chronic underachiever, a condition caused by poor political decisions and the failure to address unresolved issues.. “A political quagmire that requires a crisis to make decisions”; “layers of regulation”; “permit and consultation that take ages to complete”; “Canada is one of the most highly taxed economies on Earth which is discouraging”; “interprovincial barriers that cost four per cent a year in GDP alone to Canada”; and falling foreign investment and disinvestment by Canadians to the U.S., among others.

This article advocates for "more foreign investment" which is a death sentence for most sovereign economies.

If anything, because Canada exports mostly raw material it is dependent on foreign nations for its survival.

Our fisheries and policies have collapsed the east coast; our limber policies and fisheries the west, and out oil policies our oil producing provinces.

The attempts to remove the marketing boards in Canada or sell them to foreign nations (like the sale to the Saudis of wheat) will further destroy our economy and create a Soviet style material supply region like eastern and northern regions there.

Returning to locally owned and operated natural resource management is the only way to stop it but the Saudis, Chinese , US, German and Russian managers of our resources would baulk at it
