Folks, don't get your medical advice from the drunk at the end of the bar or anonymous people on social media.
Get your advice from scientists. The virus does not get around by itself. it travels in droplets of moisture that are many times larger than the virus (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7579175/), and masks are pretty good at catching those droplets.
The scientists say, for example:
2022 Oct 22 "we challenged different respirators and medical masks on a standardized dummy head with a bioaerosol containing MS2 bacteriophages as virus surrogates. In our experiments, FFP2 respirators showed the highest filtration efficacy 94 ± 4 (SD) % followed by medical masks 93 ± 3 (SD) % and KN95 respirators 90 ± 7 (SD) %. Nevertheless, we found no statistically significant difference between respirators and medical masks in terms of provided protection against infective aerosols. Our findings indicate that both respirators and medical masks provide a high as-worn bioaerosol protection efficacy against virus containing aerosols, and therefore, a very high protection against airborne diseases. Considering the higher comfort, better availability, and lower price of medical masks in contrast to respirators, it is recommendable to use medical face masks especially in low risk situations and in general public." https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36317154/
Would you consider Dr. Fauchi as scientist?

No date. No mention of covid. Sketchy.
If you're going to claim this hill are you going to do everything else he says too? Or do you just believe him on this one supposed (no date, no mention of covid) point?
Are you fucking retarded? Top of the screen in big white letters:
"March 2020: Dr. Anthony Fauci talks with Dr Jon LaPook about Covid-19."
Here's 60 minutes themselves later acknowledging Fauci's original mask comments and pathetically trying to rationalize or explain them away after the mask issue became politicized: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=965812513924726
Anyone can do that. I assume that in this case it was David Llewellyn, for the benefit of his 49 subscribers.
But I'm quibbling.
So in March 2020 Trump was saying “You have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero”, aerosol transmission wasn't established, global deaths were at about 50,000, and mask production had not ramped up so they were being saved for medical personnel,
Two and a half years later masks are available, aerosol transmission is acknowledged, over 6 million people are dead, 640 million people have tested positive (https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/), and healthcare facilities are crumbling to the point where many people with serious non-covid conditions can't get timely treatment.
But some people seem to be driven loopy by the fact that they can't be given a guarantee that they won't be affected. They're burying their heads in the sand, pointing back two and a half years, and sniveling "But they lied to me".
