Listen up, i've got some important news. I suspect that many of you may have already migrated to Parler, since it is marketing itself as a free speech alternative to twitter.
I read parler's user agreement and it was the most insidious thing that I have ever laid eyes upon.
Article 14 of the user agreement states that they can take as much money from you as they want to run legal defenses!
Article 17 states that they can change the entire agreement whenever they want to whatever they want without informing you, and your agreement to the old agreement extends to the new agreement!
Keeping all this in mind, why do they want your phone number to make a account???
Why are they making it necessary to give them pics of your drivers license to unlock basic features of the app???
Something about this feels wrong and I am currently making my tinfoil hat. I for one, do not trust that app!
Was about to make an account but instantly deleted it once it wanted my phone number. Only app I trust with that is telegram
I have seen this Article 14 issue. I don't see how that would work. They are terms of service, so if Parler said they were going to bill you for their legal campaigns wouldn't you just stop using the site and no longer be bound by their terms? Not to mention the clause is probably not legally enforceable anyway apart from as a justification for cancelling your account.
When I saw the mandatory phone number, I noped outta there quick.
Thank you for the further research and confirmation on why it is best avoided.
I've read that Twitter has exactly the same policies
